Flycast to Use InfoSpace.com Services to Power Flycast Valet; Valet Empowers Small and Medium-Sized Web Sites to Embrace E-Commerce And Provides New Online Marketing Vehicles to ROI-Focused Advertisers; Valet to Be Deployed to Flycast's 1,200 Affiliates

Find out what the experts think about EBAY.
SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Flycast Communications Corp. FCST , the leading provider of Internet direct response advertising solutions, today expanded its product offerings with the announcement of Flycast Valet, a comprehensive e-commerce offering that creates new revenue channels and customer retention tools for the more than 1,200 sites in the Flycast Network. Flycast Valet also establishes exciting new marketing opportunities for direct response and e-commerce advertisers interested in maximizing the ROI of their online marketing campaigns. Flycast has selected InfoSpace.com, a leading Internet infrastructure company, as a key provider in executing this broad e-commerce initiative. Valet represents a concerted effort by Flycast to empower small-to-mid sized web sites to move beyond content publishing and participate in the exploding e-commerce arena.

In today's web publishing environment, developing an e-commerce strategy to complement existing revenues from web advertising is an appealing proposition. However, costly e-commerce solutions often prevent most small and medium-sized web sites from participating in this fast growing market. At the same time, direct response and e-commerce marketers are increasingly eager to reach large audiences from a single point of contact. Valet leverages Flycast's established market maker position to deliver web marketers new opportunities to maximize the ROI of their campaigns, while providing small and medium-sized web sites with new revenue potential through e-commerce transactions.

Valet's content and commerce infrastructure will be made available to Flycast's affiliates through a relationship with InfoSpace.com. The relationship leverages InfoSpace.com's technologies and services to enable any site in the Flycast Network to develop customized e-commerce store-fronts that offer their users the ability to purchase several million products and services available from more than 3,000 merchants and off-line catalogs. Additional services available through the offering include yellow pages, white pages, auctions, classifieds, ActivePromotion(TM) merchandising tool and directory services.

"Flycast is continually seeking new and innovative ways to leverage its broad audience reach and longstanding relationships with advertisers and publishers," said George Garrick, chairman and CEO of Flycast. "The custom e- commerce solution that InfoSpace.com has developed for Flycast and our broad- based content and distribution relationship promise to expand Flycast's role as a web advertising and e-commerce market maker, while empowering a vast number of content-oriented web sites to embrace the burgeoning e-commerce industry."

According to Forrester Research, global electronic commerce is expected to top $220 billion by 2001, while the percentage of people who buy and sell goods online will grow to roughly 40 percent. Although the number of consumers who buy online is rapidly growing, few solutions are available to meet the demands of small and mid-sized web sites that wish to sell goods and services. Valet addresses web publishers' demand for e-commerce solutions by providing sophisticated, easy to deploy and affordable tools for a wide-range of e- commerce capabilities.

"Our relationship with Flycast enables InfoSpace.com to deliver our e- commerce solutions to small and medium sized web sites that would otherwise not be able to participate in e-commerce," said Naveen Jain, chairman and CEO, InfoSpace.com. "Valet will enable a wider group of web sites to sell goods and services and further accelerate the growth of e-commerce across the web. "

Media Metrix reports that the Flycast Network reaches over 25 million consumers each month, or 41 percent of the U.S. web audience. Unlike its chief competitors in the ad network space, Flycast's network is comprised of non- branded sites that often lack the resources to independently develop and manage e-commerce initiatives. Valet is an opportunity for these sites to benefit from additional revenue streams while continuing to focus on delivering content to their respective communities.

Flycast Valet provides e-commerce solutions targeted to small and medium web sites and features a wide range of services including:

E-commerce/Shopping Module Through a relationship with InfoSpace.com, a leader in providing e- commerce platform solutions to third parties, Flycast is offering e- commerce solutions that enable any web site to develop a one-stop shopping area offering several million products and services from more than 3,000 merchants and catalogs.

Web Search Capabilities Valet enables Flycast affiliates to integrate search capabilities into their sites, allowing consumers to quickly search the web for a wide range of information about the products and services made available through the offering.

Valet creates a new way for online marketers to benefit from the reach of the Flycast Network in the following ways:

-- Keywords -- Enables online marketers to purchase keywords to drive product sales and new customer acquisition on any site in the Flycast Network that is e-commerce enabled. -- Sponsorships -- Sponsorship opportunities in over 15 major product categories are now available for marketers eager to increase sales and name recognition throughout Flycast's network of more than 1,200 sites. -- InfoSpace.com's ActivePromotion(TM) -- Allows vendors to merchandise and target promotions of products and services throughout the Flycast Network. -- Affiliate Programs -- Allows sites in the Flycast Network to offer brand named products and services and earn sales commissions via links to leading Internet retailers.

"Through Valet, Flycast is responding to a need for e-commerce solutions that have been expressed by affiliates in the Flycast Network," said Greg Stuart, Flycast's vice president of business development. "In addition to delivering these sites new ways to improve relationships with their customers and drive new revenue streams, Valet creates additional media opportunities for marketers interested in taking advantage of the broad reach of the Flycast Network."
